| China Gate in the International District serves acceptable dim sum as well as traditional Chinese dishes. At 9 p.m., the restaurant turns into a lively karaoke spot. Dim sum items include shrimp balls, turnip cakes, short ribs and chicken feet, all offered from rolling carts. You can augment the dim sum by ordering one or two substantial items from the dinner menu (more than 100 items are available all day). Wonton soup, rich and generously inhabited with barbecued pork, is a good starter. The roast Chilean sea bass is cooked whole, gilded with honey and garnished with tiny carved vegetables. For a sweet finale, choose the heart-shaped mango pudding. |
