THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED China House Restaurant Review:

Housed in the magnificent domed former banking hall of Barclays Bank, China House incorporates an upstairs restaurant, a retail outlet and a casual ground floor bar and café. It serves what it calls modern Chinese ’express food’ with Western influences, which translates into a menu ranging from squid with mustard sauce to dumplings in chilli soy, all at £3. Main dishes at £6.50 might be a seafood bowl of prawns, crab, squid, and vegetables with Szechuan cabbage or roast duck with vegetables and shallot crisps, served with wet or dry noodles or rice. Children, thankfully, have smaller (’panda’) portions at £4.50. More Western and child-friendly influences come in the £3.50 desserts---ice creams, frozen yoghurts, chocolates and fruit. But don’t treat this as just a café, there’s a minimum charge of £6.50 per person.
