China Village Restaurant Review

: THIS RESTAURANT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED From the outside, China Village looks like a million other Chinese restaurants --- unremarkable. However, inside, beneath the glare of some unfortunate fluorescent lights, scores of happy diners scarf up some of the Bay Area’s finest Szechuan food. At the large tables, Lazy Susans spin to reveal seafood soups paved over with red chilies, fiery lamb cooked in a clay pot, puffy rounds of scallion bread and bowls of rice. Though China Village offers some Cantonese dishes, those in the know stick to the Szechuan choices, the specialties of the house. If you like spicy food, let the kitchen do its thing --- the slow chili burn is addictive. Diners who prefer milder dishes can ask the kitchen to tame the heat.
