Christian Balbier and Michael Goodrich have teamed up to develop a sharp, elegant, modern shop that sells classic high-quality sweets and pastries. The café takes up the corner of a mid-rise condominium in Atlanta's Midtown, and its quiet, soothing interior---festooned with shelves of precision pastries---beckons the neighborhood's denizens to linger over a cup of coffee or mocha and a luxurious tart or piece of New York-style cheesecake. Needing just a tiny fix, a patron might choose one (or more) of myriad petits fours, for just $3 or $4 each. Some are special flavors, though, that must be ordered in advance. Unusual tarts include a caramel fleur de sel, its sweetness tempered by the soft saltiness of the fleur de sel. Lucky folk who work nearby could run in at midmorning for hot chocolate, a great winter antidote.
