This majestic restaurant in Covent Garden overlooking Waterloo Bridge and the Thames has been a remarkable success. When Christopher's opened, it was the only decent, expense account-driven restaurant on this side of Covent Garden, and almost the only dining oasis from Covent Garden to the City. It found a horde of hungry mouths to feed with its East Coast offerings of top quality beef and lobster. Christopher's has been through a major refurbishment resulting in a beautiful ground-floor martini bar and elegant first-floor dining room. The menu is more international than you might expect with the likes of pumpkin risotto on the menu. But the reason to go there is the American-inspired dishes like lobster, steaks and the classic surf ‘n’ turf. Good wine list. Pre- and post-theatre dinner 5pm-7pm, 10pm-11pm. 2 courses £15.75, 3 courses £19.50.
