The Churchill Tavern Restaurant Review

: While The Churchill Tavern offers a first-rate proper roast (on Sundays only, of course), the place is also an easy weeknight destination. Pints are preferred, with a wide variety of beers and stout on tap; the wine list is something of an afterthought. Start with a scotch egg, soft boiled and wrapped in sausage before being breaded and deep fried. Or consider a sausage roll, which is an elevated, large pig in a blanket. If you're a fan of shepherd's pie, you have a few options: classic, beef and Guinness, and "Lou's English Pie of the Day." Fish ā€˜nā€™ chips served over "mushy peas" is appropriately British. Dessert brings sticky toffee pudding and ice cream (get both as they go well together) with another pint of stout.
