THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Chef Matt Scherer takes the reigns at Cielo, the restaurant at Ventana, which follows in the footsteps of the resort: earthy, airy and woodsy. Cedar wood walls encase banquettes and cocktail tables with views of meadow and sea. The ghosts of a former Big Sur bohemia are aglow in the dimly lit dining room. It’s a different story in the daylight: the terrace tables, lively with conversation, are the coveted spots.
