The stylish crowd from downtown’s Hue restaurant has another destination just blocks away: Citrus is in the emerging Uptown District that is championed by the same guys who own Hue, Central City Market and Kres. Featuring “regionally inspired and locally sourced” New American cuisine such as smoked chicken flatbread and smoked trout salad, Citrus boasts a sleek, stylish setting that includes a bar that stretches across the back of the room, with tables for dining inside and out. There’s no fancy wine cellar, but a solid list is heavy on California vintages with a few old-world picks---about 30 choices by the glass. Patrons hang out at the bar and nosh on duck tostadas and flatbreads, but the chef works magic on blue corn fish tacos, Florida shrimp and goat’s cheddar grits, and chimichurri skirt steak. For a real treat, book the private Chef’s Table.
