THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Maury Rubin's humming Manhattan shop assumes a West Coast aura in its light, bright Brentwood space, but the signature salads, sandwiches and coveted baked goods all make the trip intact. Many come for this bakery’s famous pretzel croissants, lemon tarts and legendary hot chocolate, but there is much more to The City Bakery than baked goods. For breakfast, don’t miss some of the best french toast in town, caramelized to golden goodness, and for lunch and dinner a buffet bar is stocked with intriguing salads and seafood specialties like cornmeal-crusted catfish or soy-molasses salmon. The classic-style mac ‘n’ cheese is first-rate---take a tray home with you, along with a box of pretzel croissants.
