A disappointing second effort from the team behind Sfoglia.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Civetta Restaurant Review:
The space that houses Civetta has had a rough past. Several restaurateurs came and went. And, unfortunately, the formula that makes up Civetta doesn't seem like much of a winner, either. The food doesn’t come close to the heights reached by the prices. Dishes like pork scallopine and spaghetti with hazelnuts, ricotta and eggplant wouldn’t be so out of place at one of the run-of-the-mill Italian joints nearby in Little Italy. Even the rigatoni bolognese emerges from the kitchen gloopy, and, at $28, that’s unacceptable. It’s likewise with appetizers, which are priced similar to entrées, near the $20 range. Fritto misto was soggy, and the eggplant peach Parmigiano is just not a good idea from start to finish. At the very least, the desserts are salvageable, especially the caramel and pignoli tart, paired with one of the topnotch dessert wines on the strong list.
