| The Cup is one of the last independents in Kansas City's beloved Country Club Plaza. Despite being outnumbered by big eateries with bigger budgets, it remains a hometown favorite for power breakfasts, quick lunches and romantic dinners. Longtime executive chef Michael Turner’s dedication shows, from his fluffy breakfast pancakes to his crab cakes with lemon aïoli, Thai pizza, duck gnocchi (lunch only) and infused crème brûlées. If available, Turner's stuffed trout atop herbaceous risotto is not to be missed. Irish oenophile and GM Stephen Molloy is a bon vivant host; be sure to check out his Dollar-over-Cost wine sale January through March. Busy shoppers like to snag outdoor seating, which extends deep into KC's chilly fall. Happy hour happens from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. |
