Clawson Steak House Restaurant Review: Family owned for 50 years, this approachable, affordable steakhouse’s hallmark is hand-cut meat and dinner trimmings that are included in the price of entrées. Chef specials change daily. Recommended menu items include prime rib, lamb chops, baby-back ribs, a selection of veal dishes and such classics as pan-fried perch and frogs’ legs. We like the house-made bread and salad dressings as well as the hot caramel brownie, and service is as friendly and unassuming as the aura of the rooms. There's a full bar and an extensive wine list that includes a notable by-the-glass selection. An important element is the dance floor: a live combo plays standards Wednesday through Saturday, a major draw in an era when a supper club vibe is rare. Dining and dancing may have gone out of style at some places, but not here.
