Cleveland’s has a new-age saloon feel to it---long, Gilded Age-era bar, swivel barstools, autumn-glow lighting. Such seafood specialties as jambalaya and sesame-crusted whole catfish share the menu with sautéed pork loin and pasta primavera. But it’s the fish you will want to pay attention to. And it’s hard not to with all of the finned images on the walls. The best painting is the one over the bar, an 1896 oil of two gleaming game fish once caught by John Cleveland’s grandfather. On weeknights, the bar can be quiet, the dining room packed with couples and families. By locating where it did, Cleveland’s makes the southern end of Main Street almost solid restaurants.
