| The 404 is one of those long-in-the-tooth, down-and-dirty establishments revered by dive lovers and budget-bite hunters. It offers plenty of rewards for both of these demographics. On the dive side, the place is a classic that features a morning drinking crowd, economy drafts and a true gritty ambience. It’s the real dive deal. The joint’s big claim to fame is its bargain beef. Mid-grade steaks are cut thin and cooked on the griddle, served with straight-outta-the-box mashed potatoes. Yeah, it’s nothing fancy but the dirt-cheap prices keep the regulars from complaining. Lunch crowds do the most eating, they go for the steer, basic burritos and other blue-collar fare. |
