THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cobalt Tavern Restaurant Review:
This new and stylish place is a great replacement for the venerable Washington Square Bar & Grill. The Washbag, as it was nicknamed, was a San Francisco landmark, but it never served terrific food. Rose and Guy Ferri bought the place, freshened it up a bit, and installed an interesting menu. Be sure to have the citrus-cured gravlax draped over a fresh-tasting salmon tartare. Another good starter is the crescent-shaped shrimp agnolotti or the warm spinach salad. The porcini-dusted skate wing comes with truffled-chive potatoes, spicy watercress and a balsamic reduction. The sirloin steak pairs well with crispy fries and glazed shallots. Top your evening off with a bittersweet chocolate pot de crème.
