After a multiplicity of locations (more or less successful) and a series of books, Pino Luongo's chic and trendy restaurant continues to be his main storefront. The East Side branch consistently delivers good Tuscan fare, thanks to chef Mark Strausman (also of Campagna). The two men are devoted to their careers and their teamwork yields this successful establishment. The emphasis is on simply-prepared dishes like crispy mushrooms, spaghetti with clams, grilled rib-eye steak and roasted whole fish with fresh herbs and lemon. Everything is prepared with fresh ingredients, as chef spends quite a bit of time running from market to market on his motorcycle. Portions are large and most of the wine list is comprised of Italian wines with the exception of the Champagne selection. Sunday brunch is a treat here and locals partake with Swiss regularity.
