Commonwealth Restaurant Review

: The globally inspired menu is comprised exclusively of small plates, although some are large enough to share, and the prices are exceptionally fair. Ahi sashimi is sweetened with an onion marmalade, while a grilled lamb chop arrives with a sweet potato gratin. Duck breast is served chilled with yuzu-kosho, the hanger steak is complemented by a nice pepper sauce, and the sweetbreads are well executed. For dessert, there’s a butterscotch pudding with crumbled prosciutto for saltiness, as well as Amish fruit cake. A curated list of international wines is offered, too. Chandeliers, traditional with a modern twist, hang from a high ceiling, while vibrant modern art lines brick walls at this little gem in often forgettable Burbank.
