 Corkbar pours more than 70 labels by the glass---predominantly boutique California producers---and additional wines by the bottle, plus some interesting hand-crafted beers. The modern, sparely decorated space is dominated by a high, semi-circular bar, while two patio areas accommodate al fresco sipping and noshing. A short but thoughtfully conceived menu features the likes of cheddar-bacon gougères, curried mussels and a grilled cheese sandwich incorporating a sherry-onion marmalade. The Corkbar burger with roasted tomato sauce on a challah bread bun is more than respectable, and larger plates include seared scallops with parsnip purée and root beer-braised short ribs served over soft polenta. Housed in South Park’s Evo building, Corkbar is a great resource for the condo owners living upstairs.
