Corkbuzz Restaurant Review:

Small votive candles and plush pillows in vibrant colors add soft touches to this contemporary, industrial space hidden away in SouthPark. With original locations in New York City (Union Square, Chelsea), this Charlotte outpost draws the dressy after-work crowd on weeknights. Lofted ceilings mean the gathering can be loud, making it difficult to hear fellow diners if with business clients or on a date. Start by sampling a few items from the snacks menu --- an olive plate, East or West Coast oysters or roasted cauliflower with pecorino are all options. Appetizers include inventive selections, such as the citrus-cured salmon with avocado, lemongrass and radish. For a solid entrée choice, go for the Bourguignon burger, juicy when served medium-rare and topped with a red wine fondue sauce and savory bacon-mushroom relish, accompanied by bistro fries. Trout, clam spaghetti, and seared duck breast round out the mains. A lengthy wine list offers something for most every palate but leans Old World. Dozens of wines by the glass are available, too. Cocktails and single-malt Scotches are on hand for the non-wine drinkers. Presentation is clean and portions are reasonable. Service is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating.
