The Crack Shack Restaurant Review:

Encinitas is home to “Top Chef” alum Richard Blais’ second outpost of his family-friendly eatery featuring chicken and eggs. Formerly a Coco's and a Bob's Big Boy, the space has been redesigned into a playful setting with long communal tables made from fallen Torrey Pines, alfresco dining, a chalkboard wall, a kids’ sandbox and mini golf. An 18-seat wraparound bar invites diners to belly up for craft cocktails by barman Eric Johnson. Arrive with a hearty appetite as portions as large. The Royale is a chicken sausage and sunny side egg combo with thick slabs of smoked cheddar on an English muffin, and the Señor Croque is a stacked sculpture of fried chicken, bacon, a fried egg, cheddar and miso-maple syrup bookended by brioche. There's also Mexican poutine, deviled eggs, chicken oysters, kale salad and more. Kids like the soft serve ice cream with toppings for dessert and the nine-foot chicken on the patio. Adults get a kick out of the artwork like the chicken-themed American Gothic. Also located at 2266 Kettner Blvd., San Diego, 619-795-3299.
