Crave seeks to satisfy just about any appetite and taste with its menu of eclectic hot and cold appetizers, salads, burgers, pastas, sandwiches and entrées representative of almost as many cuisines. Starters like the sautéed calamari with spinach, roasted garlic, white wine and a touch of marinara, and gambas al ajillo, shrimp sautéed in garlic and sherry, are well prepared. Entrées such as stuffed chicken with a porcini demi-cream and the grilled skirt steak with cabbage, cucumber and carrot salad, tossed in an Asian ginger vinaigrette, are surprisingly complex dishes for a bar and grill. However, the menu almost veers in too many directions, resulting in inconsistencies. The tagliatelle, for example, tossed with exotic mushrooms, plum tomatoes and roasted garlic in a virgin olive oil, had an elastic texture. Desserts include lemon meringue pie and warm apple crisp with hazelnut gelato, seasonal nuts and a caramel drizzle, while the wine list offers some notable old-world and new-world reds and whites that pair nicely with some of the more complex main courses.
