Cravings Restaurant Review: Cravings used to mean one thing: desserts. No longer. Tim Brennan has spent a quarter-century selling his desserts here, but he has officially expanded his business’ catering arm into a full-fledged restaurant. Students, businessmen and profs from nearby colleges lunch along with visiting foodies, preceding the sweets with soups and sandwiches from a menu overhauled with a bit of European flair. Not to worry, though: the curried chicken salad remains. Cravings also serves dinner two nights a week, for which reservations are mandatory when the theater or opera season are in progress at nearby Loretto-Hilton Center. But, frankly, sweets remain a central focus. When one's in the mood for chocolate cake with a cranberry filling as a main course and lime-blueberry bombe for dessert, this is the place to come. |
