THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Crema Restaurante Restaurant Review

: Chef Julieta Ballesteros (formerly of Mexicana Mama) redefines Mexican food with her stylishly sophisticated eatery in Chelsea that combines south-of-the-border specialties with the culinary passion of la belle France. The front of the restaurant offers lounge seating and a long polished bar that lines half of the rectangular space. Earthy hues and paintings by Ballesteros’s mother, del Bosque, bring warmth, class, and a subtle spiciness to the interior. A literal extra-large serving spoon of the homemade guacamole whets the palate for other appetizers such as the octopus ceviche and slow-cooked pork mini tacos. Entrées include lime-marinated filet mignon skewers and glazed Peking duck breast served with roasted plantains, pomegranate honey, crema and a potato cheese enchilada. Desserts are likewise treated in a saucy style --- the sponge cake soaked in three milks and mango syrup topped with dulce de leche ice cream will leave you longing for a sunny siesta.
