The Creole Creamery Restaurant Review: For a town that gets as hot as New Orleans, there are surprisingly few ice cream shops, but this one would stand out in a crowd. In addition to classic ice cream flavors, you’ll find such offerings as lavender honey or buttermilk lemon pie. Apricot Grand Marnier sorbet and lime-ginger ice are ideal after a hefty meal. Local specialties include ice creams made with Creole cream cheese. With new flavors constantly emerging --- such as goat cheese and Mission fig or strawberry basil sorbet --- you’ll want to return often. A "hall of fame" plaque immortalizes patrons who have conquered the Tchoupitoulas Challenge --- finishing an eight-scoop ice cream sundae loaded with eight toppings. Also located in Lakeview at 6260 Vicksburg St., 504-482-2924.
