Croissants de France Restaurant Review: A glass case in the front of the restaurant displays baked goods like buttery croissants, brioche, tarts and éclairs. The wedding and special event cakes by special order are still the most prestigious in town. Grab a seat and take in the Duval Street action over a quick pastry-and-coffee breakfast, or head into the quiet garden dining room out back for a leisurely lunch or dinner. The breads --- sourdough to multi-grain --- are homemade daily, forming the basis for sandwiches and sides. Recommended for breakfast or lunch are brioche with poached eggs in mustard sauce, a Key lime-coconut crêpe, or an omelet with triple cream Brie. For dinner, step off to France in the form of French onion soup or beef bourguignon, or stay right where you are with coconut shrimp, or a dish of bouchée a la Reine (Caribbean seafood in a puff pastry shell). |
