Cuba Restaurant Review:

The unassuming façade of this Greenwich Village restaurant belies the movable feast that takes place on the inside nightly. Live music (Fridays and Saturdays) inspires impromptu foot shuffles and sing-alongs from the friendly waitstaff, while diners dig into classic Cuban fare. Brick walls boast striking photographs of the country for which this eatery is named. Chef Marco Garcia works from a big menu, pumping out starters like braised pork belly and entrées that keep you in a perpetual state of indecisiveness, such as the tamarind-glazed duck leg confit, which comes with a satisfying dollop of mashed sweet plantains. When it comes to seafood, Cuba really swings: the cazuela marinara is a cauldron of all things savory from the sea, while the filet of red snapper with a crunchy green plantain crust in a sofrito sauce is as refreshing as it is unique.
