These faster spin-offs of the Cucina! Cucina! chain have a leisurely feel, outfitted with dark wooden tables, ceramic tiles, wood-burning ovens and display kitchens where you can watch pizza dough being pressed and pasta being tossed. Menu choices are pasta, pizza, sandwiches, soups and salads, and family-style meals, which are designed to serve from three to five, including salad and bread. Combo meals are another bargain; the signature chopped salad with lentil sausage soup makes a perfect lunch. Kids are welcome to mix and match their favorite noodle with their choice of four sauces. We can usually find something to make us happy here, such as penne with roasted chicken and broccoli in a cream sauce edged with goat cheese or a wood-fired pepperoni, sausage and mushroom pizza. You may order a glass of wine, but the list is perfunctory. We can’t vouch for the tiramisu, but we’d take the brownie over the cookies any day.
