Culpeppers Restaurant Review:

Culpeppers introduced most St. Louisans to what we now acknowledge as Buffalo chicken wings; having provided that blessing, it deserves to be cut some slack for tinkering with the classic (Buffalo pizza, Buffalo shrimp, Buffalo wrap, boneless wings, etc.). What has traditionally been a sandwich house now also offers thin-crust, Provel-draped, St. Louis-style pizza. Menu upgrades aside, what’s remained constant since 1935 is the neighborhood focus. Bright sidewalk tables attract weekend crowds of families after soccer and friends post-shopping. This is when the no-fuss desserts --- brownies, apple crisp and cheesecake --- are most popular. At night, the scene consists largely of couples on dates, many favoring the dimly lit downstairs, and sports fans at the bar, happily working away at beer and wings.
