Dad's on J Restaurant Review: The second outpost of a popular midtown sandwich shop, Dad’s on J appears to be not much more than a hole-in-the-wall eatery. The space is long and narrow, with mirrors and diamond-plate siding lining the wall, the open kitchen creating a buzz of frenzy and flurry. But despite the lack of ambience, the place still draws a standing-room-only crowd at lunchtime. The menu is pretty basic, offering burgers, sandwiches and salads, all of which are prepared with fresh ingredients and many with creative twists. The Hot Blonde sandwich is loaded with grilled-to-order chicken, avocado and pepper plant sauce and grilled panini-style, while the Green Machine is stuffed with roasted peppers, cream cheese and garlic spread. Come before 11 a.m. to indulge in one of the many breakfast sandwiches, such as the Hacienda Hottie with eggs, bacon, pepper jack and sliced jalapeños. |
