February 17
Bowls are the theme of this annual Empty Bowls charity event, where dozens of Fort Worth-area chefs devise dishes --- soups, casseroles and desserts --- that are best slurped from a bowl. After patrons nosh, they can bid on a cache of 2,000 handcrafted, hand-painted bowls donated by professional, recreational and student artisans of North Texas. Participants are from steakhouses like Bailey's Prime Plus and institutions such as The Culinary School of Fort Worth. Live entertainment, pottery, wood-turning demonstrations and a silent auction are all part of the event, which benefits the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Tickets are $45 per person, sold in advance, and available online at tafb.org, or by calling 817-332-9177, ext. 110. Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall, Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3401 W. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76107, 817-332-9177.
