THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED D'Amico Cucina Restaurant Review: If there is sibling rivalry between brothers Larry and Richard D'Amico, any tension is channeled into ensuring their restaurant's success. The flagship of the D'Amico empire, D'Amico Cucina is a culinary lab that has trained some of the best local chefs and blessed its patrons with lingering memories of extravagant Italian nights. Entering the restaurant's opulent interior can be intimidating at first, but the candlelight, Italian marble and warm, professional service immediately put you at ease. We like to take our time reading the all-Italian wine list, which boasts over 200 selections, and the menu, which changes to reflect the seasons. Chef John Occhiato deserves praise for teasing surprises out of Italian standards, a feat he accomplishes through treating the highest quality ingredients with a gentle touch and experienced know-how. The seared foie gras with Mission figs and walnut biscotti is an apt study in complementing flavors and textures; rabbit-stuffed ravioli are tasty sweet morsels; and the light gnocchi with Maine lobster is divine decadence. Desserts are not to be missed---whether you opt for something light and homespun like a creamy lemon gelato or complex like a roasted spiced pear with caramelized brioche.
