THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Daniel's Restaurant Review: Owner Daniel Malventano puts his heart and soul into this romantic Italian restaurant, emphasizing quality in every aspect of the operation. He visits Italy every year, bringing home Italian vases, art objects, dinnerware and recipes---all of which he puts to use in the restaurant. The menu changes seasonally but may include starters such as sautéed calamari and shrimp with Tuscan beans and bacon, or buffalo mozzarella with roasted Roma tomato. Entrées range from pork tenderloin with prosciutto-plum sauce to duck confit with wild cherry sauce and black truffle rice croquette. The Chilean sea bass, topped with tomatoes, capers, kalamata olives and roasted peppers, is a menu mainstay; Malventano's customers insist on it. Both soups and pastas are wonderful here, and although some are elegant, others are simple and hearty. Desserts are first-rate. Try the crostata (filled with pastry cream, sautéed bananas and blackberries with almond sauce) and you'll see what we mean. This is one of the Valley's best high-end restaurants---Italian or otherwise---and yet it remains a sleeper.
