THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Danku Restaurant Review:
Is Dutch Indonesian food just what the hungry office workers in Midtown long for? Probably not, but that shouldn’t mean skipping out on the very distinctive Danku. Go with the chicken satay, served with peanut sauce, shrimp crackers and broad noodles mixed with curry and vegetables. It could stand to be spicier, but the satay is moist and the noodles al dente. Don’t skip the sweet Indonesian meatballs, served four on a stick atop a mound of french fries; it’s possibly the best dish here with the strongest Indonesian flavors and far superior to the kroketten, mushy fritters filled with tomato and mozzarella or salmon and dill. Danku also offers poffertjes, Dutch-style pancakes the size of a quarter covered in powdered sugar.
