Darrel & Oliver's Cafe Maxx Restaurant Review: Café Maxx has been around for years, and it’s something of an institution. Chef Oliver Saucy, one of the founders of New World cuisine, took over with partner Darrel Brock in 1988, and his innovative cuisine is still going strong in a place with a friendly vibe and unpretentious attitude. Saucy produces a daily-changing menu with Asian and Caribbean accents, such as jerk-rubbed sea scallops with tropical fruit risotto and wahoo sashimi. There’s no guarantee what will be offered on any given night, but expect regional fish and quality meats, perhaps hog snapper with mango glaze or petite filet mignon with vanilla roasted spaghetti squash. For dessert, try the deep-dish bourbon pecan pie or coconut sorbet. The wine list boasts over 300 labels and patrons are urged to sample selections at the in-house wine bar.
