| A restaurant with a civic conscience? Davis & Main has one, as you will see when you read the menu. They also care about maintaining their decades-long reputation as a neighborhood eatery in a building on the National Register of Historic Places that serves assorted American specialties, ranging from Carolina wings or flatbread pizza du jour to start, to an eight-ounce grilled hanger steak and seared duck breast with white bean salad. We can’t resist the Virginia farm-raised catfish with a cornmeal crust, however, since it rates high marks for its Southern fervor. Davis & Main obviously appeals to a cross-section of Richmond, so don’t be surprised to find young couples, silver-haired matrons, and groups of thirty-somethings. Good jazz, if you are in the mood. |
