 To put it simply, Deagan’s Kitchen & Bar is a food-lover’s pub. The menu features inventive cuisine, sans pretension, alongside a long list of quality craft beers and even beer cocktails. The space itself begs for barflies with exposed brick, heavy steel beams and mix-and-match chairs salvaged from shuttered schools and restaurants around town. The menu goes beyond comfort food to feature dozens of creative options. To warm up your palate, try the deviled eggs, which are kicked up with Lake Erie goat cheese and a hit of English mustard. Then, try the devils on horseback: dates belted with bacon, skewered and cooked so that the pig is crisp and the dates burst warm and juicy. Move on to the spicy shrimp tacos, which actually aren’t at all spicy (for those craving heat, ask for a side of sriracha). If you’re still hungry for more, you can’t go wrong with the daily fish ‘n’ chips, which are consistently light and flaky, never greasy. Be sure to wash that all down with any one of Deagan’s 30 killer drafts (many of which are reserved for special and seasonal brews).
