Deagan's Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review: To put it simply, Deagan’s Kitchen & Bar is a food-lover’s pub. The menu features inventive cuisine, sans pretension, alongside a long list of quality craft beers and even beer cocktails. The space itself begs for barflies with exposed brick, heavy steel beams and mix-and-match chairs salvaged from shuttered schools and restaurants around town. To warm up the palate, try the shaved Brussels sprouts served with bacon, walnuts and a sprinkle of blue cheese. Then go for the baked goat cheese resting in a warm bed of tomato sauce. If you’re still hungry for more, you can’t go wrong with the daily fish ‘n’ chips, which are consistently light and flaky, never greasy. Other notable edibles include the chicken and waffles and the mac ‘n’ cheese that is elevated with juicy pulled chicken and crisp bacon. For dessert, the Meyer lemon tart is just the right amount of sweet meets sour. Be sure to wash it all down with any one of Deagan’s 30 killer drafts (many of which are reserved for special and seasonal brews). Consider the draft root beer, too.
