This family-owned restaurant offers diners upscale Chinese fare in a seaside setting with views of the Pacific. An open kitchen allows guests to watch the cooks work, as old-world recipes blossom with modern technique and fine ingredients. Choose from an array of tapas, soups, noodle soups, noodle dishes and entrées like pungent crispy chicken or imperial shrimp in a spicy soy glaze. High-grade products appear in dishes like Mongolian (New Zealand) rack of lamb and the Shangri-la (Angus beef) filet mignon. Premium-grade duck will please Peking fans. Significant gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian menus give diners myriad choices---think tofu lettuce wraps with hoisin sauce or seaweed cucumber salad. Don’t skip dessert, with options like mango sorbet or xango (banana cheesecake wrapped in a cinnamon pastry and topped with whipped cream, caramel and chocolate). While only beer and wine are offered, the wine list is fairly extensive, and Wednesday and Sunday call for half-price bottles. |
