At the end of the workday --- any workday --- you’re apt to see a good-looking crowd gathered at The Delachaise for creative small plate offerings and wines by the glass. With red walls and banquettes, a window-lined front section and secluded back seating area, this spot located along the Uptown streetcar line maintains a romantic vibe. Towering chalkboards behind the bar list a selection of wines, beers and spirits to complement the menu. Flavors reach to many cuisines and various parts of the planet. Nibble a portion of frogs’ legs one night and return for Moroccan chicken tagine, or perhaps Cuban twice-cooked pork, another night. Several plates are made for sharing, such as the now-legendary potatoes fried in goose fat or the smoked salmon johnny cakes. Be good to yourself and stay long enough to enjoy a molten chocolate soufflé.
