Ditmas Kitchen & Cocktail, Los Angeles, CA

Ditmas Kitchen & Cocktail Restaurant Review

: Chef Alex Reznik developed his passion for food around the Sunday family meal at his grandmother's home. And even though he's from Brooklyn, his culinary training was based on classical French techniques. He appropriately chose this neighborhood as the home for Ditmas Kitchen & Cocktail, to demonstrate his proficiency in using kosher ingredients to prepare American cuisine. So, of course, you will not find pork or shellfish offered. And to make it easier in the kitchen, there are no dairy products involved. All meats are kosher as are the beers and wines. Start with salmon poke, lamb bacon salad or carrot ginger soup. Not on the menu are the "Tony Fries," but you should definitely ask for them (we won’t spoil the surprise by revealing any specifics). Now the pièce de résistance: the meats, that you will see in a window as you enter. They are simply grilled and served on brown paper with the restaurant's logo. Choose between several different cuts that include a hanger steak and a côte de boeuf. For dessert, you might encounter bread pudding or chocolate soufflé. The space has two distinctive areas: a casual side on the left, with a communal table; and white tablecloth seating on the right. Choose according to your mood; and since it changes, it makes it easy to return as you will experience a different atmosphere on each side. To pay homage to his childhood memories, Reznik named the restaurant for the street address of his grandmother's house.
