| Famous for its wickedly hot barbecue sauce, Dixie’s has been a crowd pleaser since 1994 when Dixie and Gene Porter began serving lunch in Gene’s former auto-repair shop. Although Mr. Porter has passed away, Dixie and their daughter continue to serve up the same good food. Loyal customers line up cafeteria-style for chopped pork (the house favorite), brisket sandwiches, ribs with meat falling off the bone, red beans and rice, cornbread and potato salad. It's a must to save room for the homemade lemon cake. Seating is at picnic tables around the repair bays, and dining is down-home casual on paper plates with plastic utensils. |
