DJT Restaurant Review

: All that glitters is indeed sometimes gold, especially when it's within the gleaming exterior of the Trump International Hotel & Tower. At DJT, the restaurant housed in the tower bearing the initials of its owner, Donald Trump, gold makes a small statement in the details of even the table settings, with gold glass candle holders and bread plates set amongst Spiegelau stemware and shining Hepp Exclusiv flatware. Semi-private, curtained booths surrounding the main dining room feature individual crystal chandeliers. DJT breathes new life into the Las Vegas culinary scene with its talented kitchen (chef John Jay Watson is now at the stoves) and knowledgeable and capable front-of-the-house staff. Their take on contemporary American cuisine keeps a keen eye towards modern technique, but stays firmly rooted in classic dishes. Favorites include a starter of verdant, chilled sweet pea soup served with fruit and vegetable "jewels." This version of linguine and clams elevates the humble dish to decadent status with the addition of caviar and silky miso. For dessert, don't miss the Hacienda Conception chocolate tart, accented with vanilla cream and cherries. The wine program, which emphasizes boutique offerings, is outstanding, but the fun list of rare, grown-up sodas is a nice change of pace when it comes to pairings.
