In so many ways, this burger joint --- the brainchild of Michael Kornick (mk) and David Morton (Morton's The Steakhouse) --- is a winning formula, from the casual, come-as-you-are communal feel to the affordable, and different-enough, takes on patties. The things we liked --- the coffee milkshake, the seriously good grass-fed lamb burger oozing with tzatziki, the salty fried okra and dill pickles --- we really liked. Come to think of it, the bacon mac 'n' cheese was good, too. But certain items on the compact menu --- which emphasizes “chef-driven,” grass-fed beef --- like the bland version topped with chile, egg, bacon and jack, frankly let us down. When we found our way to the truffled fries, though, we were almost ready to forgive some transgressions. There's a small, boutique selection of beer and wine to go with. Also located at 2370 Fountain Square Dr., Lombard, 630-705-9020.
