Dobbs Ferry Restaurant Restaurant Review: Dobbs Ferry, a village in New York’s Westchester County, is a place where Italian food is served on red-and-white checked tablecloths topped with Chianti bottles wrapped in wicker. Dobbs Ferry Restaurant owner Scott Broccoli brings the essence of those homey East Coast enclaves to this bustling Hayes Valley establishment. Hearty indulgences include the addictive pizza frites --- fried flatbread dunked in a robust marinara sauce --- and pork meatballs made from Broccoli’s treasured family recipe. Chef Mike Yakura (Ozumo) evens out the menu with some refined offerings, such as carpaccio pizza, cornmeal-crusted sweetbreads poached in milk, and tender sturgeon skewered and served on a plump polenta cake. The sprawling space is light and airy, with walls of exposed brick and a lively bar area. Try to score the table next to the avocado tree encased in glass --- the best seat in the house. Desserts are unexpectedly creative, such as a cannoli gelato served with soft-serve fixings in an ice cream cone. |
