THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Doris & Ed's Restaurant Review

: At Doris & Ed's, the seafood is very fresh and the sunset view of the distant Manhattan skyline, beautiful. Small and pretty, the restaurant is sheltered by a Highland's hill and nests on a spit of sand off Sandy Hook Bay. It is so popular during the summer season that a good table can be hard to snag. Chef Thomas Donohoe has added another page to Doris & Ed’s, with a focus on local ingredients. You can still find the classics for which the restaurant is known, but also a more modern take on seafood with dishes such as butter poached lobster with an exotic mushroom duxelle, Jersey Fresh peaches and aged balsamic vinaigrette. The extensive wine list is intriguing with its focus on seafood-friendly California whites. Desserts are also seasonal, but plan a summer trip to enjoy the strawberry-rhubarb tart.
