Dorns Original Breakers Cafe Restaurant Review: Let’s face it: no one goes to Dorns to taste the latest culinary trends, but it remains a welcoming place to get a good meal at a decent price. The menu has offered spot-on interpretations of old-school California favorites such as shrimp Louie, a sardine sandwich on rye, hangtown fry and eggs Sardou since the restaurant opened in 1942. Given its scenic perch above the Embarcadero, you know you’ll also find clam chowder and all manner of seafood and chips, and the warm sourdough served with butter is always a hit. For dessert, dig into a warm olallieberry cobbler. The full bar is complemented by a selection of local wines.
