It would be easy to assume that The Drawing Room, located inside Le Passage, is just a lounge. That would be a huge mistake. With a menu by Nick Lacasse (Spring, Green Zebra, Custom House), this basement-level spot is both easy on the eyes --- think modern chandeliers, white curtains, low one-armed brown velvet chairs alongside just-as-low-tables --- and creative in the small plates department. Examples may include a cute stack of peekytoe crab cakes with kimchi or beyond-ordinary tempura avocado with red onion, cilantro purée and grape tomatoes with a blast of lime. You might encounter a dish of “bacon” with roasted pineapple, habanero and cashews. Of course, no visit is complete without a few fun cocktails --- and these are every bit as centerpiece-worthy as the food. Sit pretty with classics like a Negroni and old fashioned or newer creations like A Perfect Poire --- crafted by master bartenders. Work off the calories next door on the dance floor.
