THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Dreamy Weenies Restaurant Review:
Nasr Nance and Ahmad Shakir debuted Dreamy Weenies right on the outer edge of the French Quarter. Can one hot dog restaurant be all things to all people? Nance and Shakir seem to believe it can; their menu has items for various diets, including kosher, halal, vegan and plain old classic hot dogs. Not so plain, really. These dogs are huge, and come with a choice of toppings that runs the gamut from conventional mustard, relish or ketchup all the way to chipotle sauce, curry sauce, avocado and even lebna (a type of yogurt cheese). Decked out in all primary colors, this cheerful corner spot also offers a hand-dipped corn dog that will convert even the most skeptical first-time diners. Be aware: no alcohol; no sweets; no credit cards --- just savory, oversize dogs in nicely textured buns.
