Duarte's Tavern Restaurant Review:

When you see this restaurant, housed in an Old West-style wood-and-stucco building near Pescadero Country Store, you'll probably feel as though you've traveled back in time. Duarte's (pronounced doo-arts) is still owned and operated by the family that built it in 1894. The fourth generation serves dishes for which Bay Area natives travel down the coast. Artichokes from the nearby fields are served steamed and accompanied by garlic mayonnaise, in omelets and in the signature cream soup. Keeping with its down-home character and Portuguese heritage, the menu offers eggs with linguiça and tripe with fries. More traditional entrées include a huge New York steak, fish ‘n’ chips and mussels marinara. Portions are huge, but leave room for some fruit pie, another longstanding family recipe, or just stop in to take a pie home.
