![]() Duckfat Restaurant Review: Chef Rob Evans is known for his avant-garde cuisine at Hugo's, just across the street from this casual lunch and dinner sibling. But the don’t-miss dish here is the hand-cut potatoes double-fried in duck fat. Panini are some of the best sandwiches in Portland, featuring a variety of more unusual meats (duck confit, ham, meatloaf, bacon and tuna), cheeses (muenster, goat, provolone, cheddar, Swiss and mozzarella) and other ingredients (eggplant, tomatoes, capers, pesto, basil, slaw, cranberries, apples and pears) in pleasing combinations. Have a cone of duck fat fries with dipping sauces like garlic aïoli, Thai chili mayo or truffled ketchup. Try the charcuterie plate with duck rillette and pork pâté, then move on to milk shakes and beignets or a gelato float for dessert. (Photo by Katie Selva). |
