THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Dunbar's Restaurant Review:
Tina Dunbar's fried chicken is the antithesis of the fast-food species---slow-cooked to a moist and tender turn, with the gentle seasonings that denote true home-style Southern eats. The ideal pairing for it is her red beans and rice, simmered to a near-creaminess. And, like everything else in this homey, unaffected restaurant, the cost is close to philanthropic. Lunch specials run toward rib-sticking stuff. Indeed, big pork ribs are high on the hit parade, but they don't hold a candle to the gumbo, meat-and-rice-stuffed sweet peppers, fried shrimp and oyster po'boys, cheesy baked spaghetti or the seasonal crawfish étouffée. Lemonade may be a wiser choice than the iced tea, which is sweet enough to make your teeth hurt. The main room downstairs is a smile-inducing space, with brightly colored paintings advertising specials and a Christmas tree that often sticks around long past St. Valentine's Day.
